ABOUT ME

Who is Lance Halliday

I grew up in the mountains of Appalachian North Carolina, where creativity and making were constant parts of my world. From building elaborate Lego cities to designing in Minecraft or strategizing in Catan, I was always drawn to challenges that let me construct, solve, and imagine. Those early experiences shaped the way I think and work today, approaching every project with goals, structure, and a drive to bring ideas into reality through my own hands.

I am driven by curiosity and the desire to learn. New skills, processes, and projects energize me, and I take pride not only in exploring them but in mastering and building upon what I've learned. My work exists at the intersection of art and craft: it is deeply creative yet grounded in technical precision. I thrive on translating imaginative concepts into tangible, buildable structures, blending problem-solving, technical skill, and artistic vision in every project I take on..

My journey into scenic fabrication and technical direction began with a curiosity for how stories come to life in the physical world. Early on in college, I explored nearly every area of design, from props and costumes to sound, lighting, and scenic construction. These experiences built my foundation in design principles, problem-solving, and collaboration, shaping how I approach every project with technical precision and creative insight.

Beyond professional work, I pursue personal projects in drawing, leather work, resin casting, 3D printing, miniature painting, and other mixed media. Puppetry has been a particular joy, blending storytelling with technical skill in ways that are both challenging and fun. Exploring new materials and techniques keeps my curiosity alive and continually inspires my creative practice.
